Friday 8th August : 6.15pm start : Lions vs Tigers followed by Presentations & BBQ

Youth Training sessions will start on Friday 18th April from 6:30 to 8 pm., at the Recreation Ground and will continue until the end of July 2008. From the 2nd May the U15s (only) will be using the Blandford School for practice.

The cost is £5.00 for junior club membership which is essential for insurance purposes and £1.50 for every training session attended at the Recreation ground.

Once again there is a full programme of league and cup matches for U11s (2 teams), U13s and U15s in the NDCA leagues. Match fees are £1.50.

Fixtures can be found on the club website as well as other important youth information.

To join the club as a junior member, please fill-in the form below and return it with £5 to Chris Baker.

As usual, we could not run this programme without the support of the parents for transport, umpiring, scoring, training assistance and general encouragement – if anyone is able to help in a regular capacity then training can be provided. Please contact Owen or Tom.

Holiday Camps :

Enclosed are details of holiday camps being run on our behalf by our colleagues at the Wessex Cricket School. Most of the coaches are involved at Blandford either playing 1st & 2nd XI cricket or club coaching.

Chance to shine :

The Club is now in the 2nd year of the Chance to shine programme to get children in state schools playing competitive cricket again.

The Club will be providing 5 local schools with up to 50 hours of high quality cricket coaching each this summer through a £50m national campaign bringing the sport back to state schools.

The Cricket Foundation, a registered charity, launched Chance to shine in May 2005 when fewer than ten per cent of state schools played competitive cricket, and coached more than 45,000 children last summer.

The ten-year campaign will set up sustainable cricket programmes in a third of state schools in England and Wales by 2015, and is the largest single-sport grassroots campaign.

Should you have any comments or concerns regarding any aspect of the youth programme please discuss them either with a Club coach or with one of the people listed below.
